John Udinsky Jr earned his B.M. in Jazz Guitar Performance from The University of the Arts and has led an active career as both a performer and a teacher. As a freelancer, John’s experiences have included performing heavily in the PA/NJ/NY tri-state area, frequenting venues such as World Café Live, Milkboy, TIME, Arlene's Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall & The Bitter End. He has toured along the east coast performing in over 12 states, has been featured on 4 LPs, 1 EP, 3 singles, has appeared in 2 music videos & has performed in orchestra pits for over 18 musical productions. In December of 2019, John released his first solo album entitled "Movin' Along” which featured 8 of his original compositions for solo acoustic guitar. Today, John resides just outside of Boston, MA and divides his time between teaching & composing.
As a composer, John is currently studying the art of orchestration and is in the process of applying to graduate school where he intends to study composition for film and other visual media.
In a lesson with John, a student can expect to get a well rounded education. Not only will they receive training in the essential guitar techniques & repertoire of all styles, but will also receive lessons in musicianship such as theory, transcription & ear training. John also emphasizes the exploration of the creative process through the development of skills such as improvisation, arranging & composition.
